About the WIL Pilot The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Pilot is a project that is catalyzed by CED, all 7 Post-Secondary Institutions (PSIs) in Calgary, the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations and partners across the city.
The WIL Pilot has 3 Elements: 1. A centralized digital platform that provides single portal access for a variety of WIL opportunities between Calgary\xe2\x80\x99s PSIs and WIL providers. 2. A Secretariate that serves as a staff support team to assist in the development, adaptation, and promotion of resources from the digital platform. 3. An evaluation of the WIL pilot model and a feasibility study to scale the model to other stakeholders and other jurisdictions.
We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for WIL Marketing and Communications Coordinator to join our team and contribute to the branding and marketing of this project.
This is a full-time six-month contract position.
Job Summary
The Events Coordinator will contribute to the execution of the marketing and communications strategy and operations of the Calgary Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Secretariate. The Events Coordinator for WIL will collaborate with the WIL team, with CED\xe2\x80\x99s Marketing and Communications team, as well as with other program partners, and external suppliers to execute marketing and communication initiatives that meet planned objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
The Events Coordinator will work with the Marketing & Communications Manager for WIL to plan, book, attend, develop, implement, and evaluate events to support the overall marketing and communication strategy.
Activities may include:
  • Event Planning (Organizing, Relationship Building, Sourcing 3rd Party Events, Submitting Applications, etc.)
  • Event Attendance (Representing the WIL project at events, setting up, take down, etc.)
  • Event Logistics (Bookings, Catering, Vendors)
  • Event Coordination (Set up, Execution, Tear Downs, etc.)
  • Event Follow Up & Feedback
  • Conduct effective research on assigned tasks or topics.
  • Provide support for the other team members to use and maintain tools to assist with marketing and communication efforts (website, social media channels, e-newsletters, etc.)
  • Assist in coordinating campaigns, activations, and experiences for the WIL project.
  • Build collaborative relationships with all internal stakeholders to build understanding of the expectations and needs around events.
  • Build collaborative relationships with all external stakeholders to execute effective marketing, events, and communication activities.
  • Act as an ambassador of CED, and the WIL program in general.

Education:
  • Post-secondary diploma in relevant field (e.g., events, hospitality, tourism, marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, etc.)

Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year in events, public relations, tourism, hospitality, marketing, communications, or another related field.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and PowerPoint

Unique Working Conditions: This position may require long and/or irregular hours including attendance at a number of functions and events. The successful candidate works effectively within a team environment and maintains composure when under pressure. The successful candidate must be able to balance and prioritize demands for information from a variety of sources, both internal and external, and deal effectively with confidential information.
