WFS - Director, Sales

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for the direction and strategy for the Sales functions, as well as the development and leadership of the leaders and team members in this department. This includes both increasing share of wallet with existing customers and acquiring new customers. This position will play a key role on the leadership team and will define the strategy, processes, and team for driving profitable sales growth and strong customer relations. The role will be accountable for driving speed to revenue and productivity improvements and will collaborate closely with other members of the WFS & Grainger leadership teams to ensure success. This role must lead with enterprise thinking, thought leadership, and support for strategic departmental and corporate projects that support company growth initiatives.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Aggressively target and acquire profitable customers
  • Exceed financial goals by accelerating revenue growth and meeting targets
  • Manage the corporate relationships with key customers, while being responsible for pricing and commercial contract, and contract compliance
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of customers\' industries, including trends, business processes, financial measurements, and performance indicators, as well as key client competitors in their industry
  • Leadership of overall Sales strategy, including vending, cutting tool, and eCommerce strategies, vendor relationship, and growth of these areas of the business
  • Work closely with cross-functional leadership to identify and deliver customer opportunities, including but not limited to, negotiation of deals, allocation of appropriate resources, and implementation
  • Establish a professional selling culture and process including sales pipelines, coverage, productivity prospecting, and growing existing customers
  • Analyze current business trends or emerging market segments and proactively identify product & solution opportunities with our key suppliers, allowing the leadership team to react quickly
  • Leadership of performance management, learning & development of leaders and team members, talent acquisition, succession planning, and diversity, equity, & inclusion
  • Create a team environment of engagement, continuous improvement, and performance excellence in alignment with company Principles
  • Identify and develop future leaders and strong contributors through the use of performance management and development tools and resources
Job Requirements:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in sales, operations, and customer service
  • Degree in business administration or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in the industrial/safety distribution field preferable
  • Strong financial acumen with knowledge of budgeting and accounting. Capable of understanding and using financial and economic concepts to perform the necessary analytical tasks
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement practices
  • Proven ability to successfully navigate and improve business performance in a multi-channel environment, must understand B2B and have experience in it
  • Must be a change agent with proven ability to influence and lead through periods of rapid change and growth
  • Proven ability to attract, develop and retain superior talent and build high performance teams
  • Professionalism and poise - executive presence
  • The ability to communicate effectively, consult with others, develop relationships quickly, both internally and externally, facilitate group discussions, create, and deliver compelling professional presentations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent judgment and strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze and understand the impact of relevant options
  • Business travel is required; must have valid G Driver\'s License with clean driver\'s abstract, and a reliable vehicle
  • Overnight travel may be required
