Wellness Worker, Psychiatry, College of MedicinePrimary Purpose: The main objective of the n\xc3\xa9hiyaw w\xc3\xaecihitowin (Cree helping Cree) project is to decrease the current rates of Indigenous incarceration and to mitigate recidivism via culturally adapted interventions for youth and their families in the Little Pine and Poundmaker First Nation, Saskatchewan. Ultimately, it is also to create and sustain safer communities for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. The n\xc3\xa9hiyaw w\xc3\xaecihitowin project requires an On-Site Wellness Worker to work as part of a larger team.Nature of Work: The primary role of the mental health wellness worker is to provide individual and family support and to assist with the delivery of the n\xc3\xa9hiyaw w\xc3\xaecihitowin project. This will include providing group psychoeducational sessions on a weekly basis for the youth and their families. For example, providing an ongoing weekly group session that addresses Alternatives to Violence. This would include assisting with program planning and implementation, facilitating groups, teaching and role modeling healthy communication, healthy boundaries, healthy lifestyles, and effectively managing emotions.Typical Duties and Accountabilities:
