THE OPPORTUNITY - WELLNESS SERVICES PRACTITIONER - Cochrane

SHIFT: Monday - Friday| 9:00 am - 16:00 pm

LOCATION: Cochrane, Alberta

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Facilitate the connection of persons with disabilities to be actively engaged in the community through meaningful activities that increase their overall well-being. This may include activities such as volunteerism, recreational and leisure pursuits, life-long learning, and civic engagement. Support individuals to know their rights, voice their thoughts and needs, build relationships in the community, and advocate for the services they require. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, and/or educational activities. Provide Relief Coverage to other teams within your Component when needed Communicate effectively with consumer's support network, including updating guardians and family members of any necessary changes Administer medication as needed (training provided) Facilitate connections to the community in order to achieve physical, mental, and social well-being

WHAT YOU BRING

We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences, and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:

Diploma and/or Degree in Community Rehabilitation, Disability Studies, or a related social science. Minimum of two years of experience working with persons with disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. Well-developed and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) Effective emergency and crisis management Willing to use your personal vehicle to transport consumers to different locations within Cochrane Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism aligned with Vecova values Maintain a positive working relationship with all Vecova team members Represent Vecova in a professional manner Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm Maintain confidentiality at all times Demonstrate a high level of administrative and IT capacity
