Job Description

The Welding Specialist is responsible to support Davie's welding activities, by interacting with Human Ressources (training) and production departments. More specifically, you will:


Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment, using knowledge of applicable codes and standards, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and Weld engineering principles. Lead weld development for new scopes of work and improving current processes based on field conditions and ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. Provide expertise and work closely with welders, foremen and the welding engineer to determine optimal welding parameters for the equipment type, process, joint configuration, and consumable selection. Verify that welders are using the correct welding procedures for the applicable welding process. Support the Training Department (HR) in developing the technical content related to the production competency management system. Interpret Davie and customer drawings, codes, standards, and procedures.

Requirements:

Minimum 10 years of manufacturing/fabrication or related industry experience. Naval welding experience would be an asset. Certification as a CWB Welding Supervisor would be an asset. Deep knowledge of welding norms; W47.1, W59, ASME Sect. IX, ASME B31.3 et B31.1. Good working knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for VT/MT/PT/RT and UT. General knowledge of Manufacturing methods and procedures. Working knowledge with Microsoft computer applications. Work well in a team environment. Strong written, verbal communication and problem-solving skills. Fluency in French (written and spoke). Intermediate level of English (written and spoken). English is required for this position, as the incumbent will be required to interact with our English-speaking clients, partners, and suppliers Successful completion of the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government's Contract Security Program.
