WELDING APPRENTICE (BAND LEVEL 6)
Department of Technical Services (Contractual Position to October 1, 2023)
This competition may be used to fill identical positions in this unit within three (3) months of the closing date

DUTIES
The successful applicant will be required to perform apprentice-level welding tasks in accordance with standard trade practices. Duties include performing multiple welding and cutting processes such as SMAW, GMAW, GTMAW, FCAW, RSW, oxy-acetylene, and plasma cutting; operating a variety of metal fabrication equipment, such as cold bar bender, pipe bender, iron worker, sheet metal rollers, metal brake, and metal shears; and performing other related duties as required. Tasks may be performed at Memorial\xe2\x80\x99s various locations and campuses. Working from heights or in confined spaces may also be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates must have completed pre-apprenticeship (entry-level) training at a recognized institution towards Journeyperson Certification in welding. Candidates currently enrolled in pre-apprenticeship training will also be considered. Candidates must be eligible to enter in the Apprenticeship program under the Department of Education (Industrial Training Section). Possession of a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract, as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, is required.
SALARY
$33,309 - $37,281 per annum based on year of apprenticeship program An upscale hiring step will apply to this position (Step 23) CLOSING DATE March 27, 2023
