Position Welder Location Copper Mountain Mine, is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic
Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities,
especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of
Vancouver and the Okanagan. Summary Reporting to Supervisor, Mill Maintenance, the Welder is responsible for repairing and maintaining site structures and equipment in the Mill or field environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts all activities within the course of your employment safely and follows all pertinent Copper
Mountain Mine safety requirements and SOPs,
  • Practices safe work behaviours and supports the Copper Mountain Mine safety culture through
participation in daily and monthly safety meetings and initiatives,
  • Adheres strictly to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements in all areas while on mine
property,
  • Reads and interprets blueprints or welding process specifications,
  • Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes,
such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding



(FCAW), plasma arc welding (PAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), oxy-acetylene welding
(OAW), resistance welding, and submerged arc welding (SAW),
  • Uses manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment,
  • Runs brazing and soldering equipment,
  • Conducts technical inspections, repairs, modifications, and retrofits, while maintaining safe work,
  • Ensures accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects,
  • Keeps detailed and accurate reports and documentation,
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the Welder role as required or as assigned by the
supervisor.

Education & Experience
  • Valid CWB welding certification in all positions, encompassing Gas Metals Arc Welding (GMAW) and
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW),
  • Red Seal Welder with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the mining or heavy industrial
setting,
  • Experience with milling equipment within the mill building, internal and external tailings system
equipment, pumping systems for underground water and fresh water supply,
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a positive manner and in a diverse environment,
  • Possess strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills,
  • Possess a solid mechanical ability/aptitude,
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone or with minimal supervision,
  • Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as
working in noisy and dusty environments,
  • Repeated exposure to vibrations, and chemicals, and will often require working alone with minimum
supervision,
  • Work includes working in heavy industrial environments; this may have conditions that include
adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture; walking on slippery
and/or rough, uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; at heights; and involves climbing ladders and
stairs,
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a light vehicle at our operations, in
various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving,
  • Regular exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds,
  • Work requires to be clean-shaven.
