Job Description


Our clients have a close relationship with the Service Teams, to support their equipment with spare parts, wear parts, retrofits or services in the region. The Service team in the North American region works in close collaboration to ensure that our clients get OEM services on time for a reliable and optimized operation of their equipment.

As part of the Service execution group, the Service Center operates as the location in western Canada where inspection and repair services take place for FLS and tkIS equipment. OEM trained personnel, also assist with site support performing outage work supervision and equipment inspections and troubleshooting.

The Service Center in Western Canada is a key facility for Service Execution, located in Leduc \xe2\x80\x93 Alberta. Its operation includes a steel / plate shop facility, special welding, mechanical facility for inspection and repair of gearboxes, pumps, cyclones, valves, High Pressure Grinding Rolls, Screens, shafts, etc. The Service Center is the main facility to support all equipment installed in Alberta and Western Canada.

This Service Center is part of the Professional Services Vertical within Service and Sales in the NAMER region and operates in close collaboration with Site Service Sales, Product Line Management, Life Cycle Services and Field Execution teams.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with safety rules and regulations to eliminate potential injuries and meet with regulatory requirements while maintaining a safe and clean working environment enforcing procedures, rules, regulations and controls in job execution.
  • Providing training to all fitter and welder apprentices on safe working procedures. (As required)
  • Reading blueprints and drawings as well as taking and read measurements to plan layout and execute fit-up.
  • Following SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, MCAW welding application processes (primarily modified wave form MCAW), materials are primarily low temperature structural steel & low alloy AR plate with limited high strength structural steel material, and some hard-faced wear plate (chrome carbide & tungsten carbide overlaid plate) work.
  • Welding components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in all positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
  • Visually inspecting welded surfaces and structure to identify potential flaws.
  • Rig, hoist and move materials safely to storage areas or within worksite.
  • Record time allocation and work progress according to process or specific instructions.
  • Other tasks as directed by the Shop Manager Service Centre.
What you bring
  • Professional manners in dealing with others, working to maintain constructive working relationships internally and externally, with customers and manufacturers.
  • Seven (7) years steel fabrication as a fitter and welder and seven (7) years jig and fixture fabrication
  • Alberta Red Seal Journeyperson certification as a Structural Steel Plate Fitter and Welder. (Preferred)
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy while working with a variety of individuals and groups
