Summary



We are seeking a skilled Welder-Fitter to join our dynamic team in BRACEBRIDGE ONTARIO . In this role, you will play a crucial part in producing high-quality waste collection and transportation equipment, contributing to our mission of delivering innovative solutions to our customers.

Responsibilities and Duties:



Welding:



Proficiency in various welding processes:

This includes MIG, stick welding (SMAW), and potentially other specialized methods.

Following welding procedures:

Adhering to specifications, using appropriate filler materials, and ensuring proper weld quality.

Welding in different positions:

Welding in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) as required by the job.

Operating welding equipment:

Setting up and using welding machines, torches, and other tools.

Inspecting welds:

Checking for defects and ensuring they meet quality standards.

Fitting:



Interpreting blueprints and drawings:

Understanding technical drawings to determine material requirements, layout, and assembly sequences.

Laying out and marking metal:

Using patterns, templates, and other tools to mark reference points and guide cuts.

Cutting and shaping metal:

Using tools like shears, torches, and saws to cut metal to the correct dimensions.

Fitting and assembling components:

Using tack welding, bolting, riveting, or other methods to join metal parts.

Ensuring proper alignment:

Ensuring metal components are properly aligned and assembled before welding.

Using rigging and hoisting equipment:

Moving materials and components within the workspace.

Essential Skills:



Blueprint Reading:

Understanding and interpreting technical drawings and schematics is crucial.

Welding Expertise:

Proficiency in various welding processes and the ability to select appropriate methods and materials for each job.

Metal Fabrication:

Skills in cutting, grinding, shaping, and assembling metal components to meet specific dimensions and specifications.

Equipment Operation:

Safe and efficient operation of welding equipment, power saws, grinders, and other tools.

Problem-Solving:

Identifying and resolving issues related to welding processes, material defects, or equipment malfunctions.

Safety Awareness:

Adhering to strict safety protocols and using personal protective equipment to prevent injuries.

Quality Control:

Inspecting welds for conformance to quality standards and making necessary repairs or adjustments.

Material Handling:

Lifting, moving, and positioning heavy metal components using appropriate tools and equipment.

Teamwork and Communication:

Collaborating with other team members, communicating effectively with supervisors, and participating in safety meetings.

Typical Job Duties:



Preparation:

Preparing metal surfaces for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and ensuring proper fit-up.

Assembly:

Positioning, clamping, and tack-welding components to assemble structures or products according to blueprints.

Welding:

Performing various welding processes to fuse metal components, ensuring strong and durable welds.

Inspection:

Checking welds for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications.

Maintenance:

Maintaining welding equipment, ensuring it is properly calibrated and functioning correctly.

Safety:

Following all safety procedures, using personal protective equipment, and ensuring a safe work environment.

Material Handling:

Lifting, moving, and positioning materials using cranes or other lifting devices.

Troubleshooting:

Identifying and resolving issues related to welding processes, equipment malfunctions, or material defects.

Documentation:

Maintaining records of work performed, materials used, and any quality control issues.

Working Conditions:



Physical Demands:

The job is physically demanding, requiring standing for extended periods, lifting heavy loads (up to 50 lbs or more with assistance), and working in various positions (bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching).

Environmental Factors:

Welders may be exposed to noise, heat, sparks, and potentially hazardous materials.

Work Environment:

Working indoors in manufacturing facility, sometimes in confined spaces or at heights.

Fast-paced Environment:

The work can be fast-paced, especially with deadlines.
