Job Description

Urban Life Solutions is currently seeking a licensed Shop Welder to join our Fleet & Facility team in Ottawa. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining a variety of metal components and equipment used in landscaping, construction, and snow & ice management operations.

Responsibilities:

Perform MIG, TIG, and arc welding on a variety of metal components and heavy equipment



Fabricate custom metal parts and assemblies based on blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions



Conduct structural repairs on trailers, salters, plows, and other seasonal or heavy-duty equipment



Perform preventative maintenance and inspections of welds and metal structures



Collaborate with mechanics and operators to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues



Operate metalworking tools such as grinders, torches, saws, and welders safely and efficiently



Maintain a clean and safe workspace, following all occupational health and safety protocols



Mentor apprentices where applicable and promote best practices in the shop

Experience and Requirements:

Must be a registered Welder (437A) with Skilled Trades Ontario (as a licensed journeyperson)



Minimum 3 years of welding experience, preferably in a landscape, construction, or heavy equipment environment



Demonstrated proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding



Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications



Strong understanding of metal properties and proper safety procedures



Mechanically inclined and familiar with equipment used in landscaping and winter operations



Must possess a valid Ontario driver's license (DZ license considered an asset)
