Island, and we create a wide range of diverse, local programs for West Coast audiences, the type we\xe2\x80\x99d like to see ourselves. Role Overview
We are looking for a passionate and experienced journalist with a great on-air presence.
You will work with a highly motivated and talented newsroom team to produce compelling content on our various platforms and be the main Anchor for the Weekend
5pm Newscast. A rare west coast opportunity to be part of a dynamic, independent newsroom and Vancouver Island\xe2\x80\x99s most watched newscasts. Schedule: This position is a 40 hours per week Wednesday-Sunday, primarily 9-5pm or
10-6pm shifts. We may also consider part time options to fill this role depending on candidate preferences. Please indicate your preference for hours in your application. Responsibilities

  • Excellent verbal communications skills with strong storytelling ability.
  • Strong writing and editing skills. Ensures our content is original and relevant and meets journalistic standards.
  • As a journalist you will cover a range of news, arts, culture, sports, and events.
  • Feature reporting and content creation for multiple platforms including broadcast and digital.
  • Positive attitude with a strong team player skill set.
  • Engaged with current news and events locally and abroad.
  • Interviewing, writing, producing, and reporting, of local news.
  • Editing and shooting experience.
  • Ability to provide relief mid-week News Anchor coverage when needed.
  • Ability to generate story ideas and make effective editorial decisions to complete scripting, editing and production of the story in preparation for publishing or airing.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • University degree, diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience in Journalism or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of related journalism experience, with proven on-air Anchoring skills and experience.
  • Must have valid drivers\xe2\x80\x99 license and clean driving record.
