Join our team at The Makery, where creativity meets play!

The Makery is a vibrant S.T.E.A.M.-focused play centre where children explore, create, and discover through hands-on experiences in our four unique labs: STEM, Move, Mess, and Light. We're looking for an enthusiastic, reliable adult to join our weekend team and help bring magic to birthday parties, open play sessions and special events.

About the Role

As our Weekend Play Ambassador, you will be responsible for greeting families, guiding activities, maintaining our welcoming, clean space, and ensuring every child leaves with a smile. This is a dynamic role perfect for someone who thrives in a busy, joyful environment and loves making children's celebrations unforgettable.

Hours:

8-16 hours per weekend (Saturday and Sunday), based on bookings.

Schedule:

Year-round availability required, excluding long weekends, two weeks over Christmas break (we close during those times) and pre-approved vacation requests.

What You'll Do

Facilitate sessions with energy and creativity Set up and clean up activity stations across our four labs Engage warmly with children and chat professionally with parents Maintain a clean, organized, and safe play environment (sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing toys, laundry, cleaning bathrooms, and general tidying) Anticipate needs and take initiative once familiar with our routines Collaborate smoothly with 1-2 co-workers during busy shifts Support our playful, professional, and friendly brand in every interaction

Requirements

Must be 18+ years of age Current Standard First Aid certification (or willing to obtain at your own cost) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening (your own cost) Available for all weekend shifts (excluding long weekends, our two-week Christmas closure and vacation time) Comfortable with physical tasks including standing for extended periods, lifting supplies, and keeping pace in an active environment
