COMPANY PROFILE
Bedore's Photo Graphic Arts Inc. plans to open an art studio & gallery in historic Uptown Saint John. The studio will support the artistic endeavours of the owner, as a phase II of her career, while offering an opportunity for local artists to display their work in the adjacent gallery and in our online store. The accompanying art gallery will offers "original artistic works", primarily of New Brunswick artists, with a special concentration on artists, artisans & crafts-people from the Saint John area. Our collection also extends to include artists from across Canada, especially creations of Aboriginal artists, Black artists as well as Veterans & retired service people. Bedore's will also host quarterly auctions & exhibitions, at our gallery & online via Shopify & Matterport.
JOB OPENING: Web Developer/Digital Marketer/SEO Coordinator
We are looking for a self-motivated individual to assist us with the completion of our online store (Shopify), website (Yola), completing the set-up of our social media outlets, as well as implementing our digital marketing plan. The position is full-time for the summer, so university students in a Computer Science program are welcome to apply, and there is an option of a full-time permanent position commencing in the fall for recent graduates, or part-time for students returning to complete their degree/diploma.
Each workweek starts with a meeting with the company principals, to coordinate, plan & monitor work objectives, progress & task completion, as well as the planning & coordination of upcoming events and programs. The ability to work independently is essential for the candidate to be successful in this position. Structured orientation will be provided to the successful candidate, and a clear set of tasks will be provided in the form of a job description. The expected outcomes of this position over the 8-12 weeks are as follows;
- enhance existing Shopify online store website design, coordinate upload of product data/photos from Excel to Shopify
- development of website for gallery, studio, artist's consulting practice, property company & contracting services
company, using existing web site templates from Yola.com
- assistance in digitalmarketing, addesign,lay-out&media selection and sometimes development or editing
- assistance to set-up point of sale system for Gallery
- assist in tracking ofdigitalmarketingcampaign outcomes,monitoranalytics,"fine-tune" SEO and maintain followers
- assistance to set up & configure the Matterport application, enabling virtual gallery and studio walk-throughs
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position is a computer science student, or recent graduate in computer science, and lots of experience in website development using ISP templates, and someone with experience with Shopify. A bonus would be the candidate also having an interest in fine arts or the humanities, along with somebackground inthe fieldof art,or a creative field such as graphic design, marketing, sales or event coordination. Some ofthe skillsrequired for success in this position, include:
- a flair for presentation & aesthetics, and a sincere interest in visual art, art history, archiving, curating & education
- background in fine arts or the equivalent education, experience in retail sales, and interest in continual learning
- some experienceinblogwriting,communications,socialmediaAddesign&leadsourcing
- a desire to learn about fine art, artists and maintaining current & accurate biographies of Canadian artists
- management wishes to create employment, so preference will be given to unemployed or underemployed applicants
- comprehensive skills in English is mandatory, AND spoken & written skills in French is a definite asset.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The work-schedule for this position is flexible, however it is preferred that the candidate work at least 2 days per week at our office in Saint John. The gallery & office are located in uptown Saint John, NB with off-street parking available for employees. The starting pay rate will depend upon education and experience & skill level, however the budget for this position is $18-25 per hour, depending upon qualifications. Full group healthcare benefits will be offered to employees at some point during their probation period. The expectation is that at the end of the probationary period, the successful candidate would take the position of IT Coordinator.
