Position Overview

This position supports BCNU digital platforms in conjunction with other staff members of the Communications department.



Key Responsibilities

BCNU Website(s)

Keeps the BCNU website up to date as information changes and posts information such as bulletins, press releases, events, videos, images, etc. Maintains analytic tools and branded themes on the BCNU website. Troubleshoots issues with layout, navigation, and configuration of the website. Works with department staff to understand and respond to user needs. Manages web assets ensuring files are properly named and organized. Makes recommendations for UI and UX improvements based on industry best practices. Assists with the design and programming of new widgets, pages, and microsites.

BCNU Member Portal

Keeps the BCNU Member Portal content up to date in collaboration with department staff. Manages digital assets; archiving content as requested. Assists members and staff with technical issues. Provides analytics as requested. Sets up digital forms to pull appropriate member data and ensure forms are accessible. Assists in creating targeted membership lists. Ensures digital assets are targeted to the right groups. Provides recommendations to improve portal architecture to optimize user experience.

Email Communications

Lays out emails ensuring formatting and brand compliance. Manages and updates membership lists. Creates new branded email templates according to brand guidelines. Ensures compatibility across devices. Makes recommendations for improvements to layouts based on industry best practices. Provides monthly analytic reports to department staff. Troubleshoots and provides technical assistance to members and staff. Monitors department's general inbox and flags emails for response.

Digital Assets

Creates complex and interactive digital forms with workflows. Addresses technical issues for members and staff.

Performs other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications



The successful applicant must have:



1. A certificate and/or diploma in web design, web development, or computer science with ongoing skill-based upgrading and training, plus three years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

2. A strong technical background with the ability to bring concepts to life. Fluency in HTML and a strong understanding of CSS. Knowledge of usability best practices to enhance user experience.

3. Experience working with content management systems, email platforms, online ticket support systems, and member databases. Working knowledge of the following software and programs: Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Cloud, SharePoint, Drupal, Campaigner, Zendesk, and UnionWare.

4. An understanding of branding standards and ability to adhere to process and guidelines.

5. Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.

6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

7. Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize work, including demonstrating initiative and responding to requests in a timely manner.

8. Ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a team.

9. Ability to manage correspondence and research information.
