TD Waterhouse Insurance Services Inc. is part of TD Wealth Advisory Services; a team of professionals who work with advisors to help families protect, grow, and successfully transition their wealth by delivering world-class advice and legendary client experience. TDWISI provides high net worth clients with comprehensive insurance-based solutions to assist clients in building, preserving, and creating wealth through several tax advantaged strategies. Our insurance solutions are offered utilizing insurance products manufactured by leading third-party insurance carriers. TDWISI supports all insurance sales channels (TDW Private Investment Advice (PIA), TD Private Client Group (PCG) and TDW Financial Planning (FP) including those channels that may compliantly refer insurance sales within TDBFG.

Reporting to the Manager, in force Service and Client Experience, the Life Insurance Specialist is a licensed insurance professional with policy sales and servicing experience. They demonstrate a strong knowledge of insurance concepts and strategies to effectively carry out 3 core accountabilities: risk oversight, sales advice, and advisor training. Working in a fast paced, ever changing environment, they work comfortably with colleagues, other business units and external vendors; demonstrating the ability to cooperate and influence as they take on various projects, delivering to tight deadlines.

Work with various TD Wealth Advisors and provide high quality professional advice to referred clients ensuring suitability of products recommended and sold while adhering to regulatory requirements (Bank Act, AML, Provincial, Industry, TDWIS requirements).

  • Identify revenue generating opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell including term renewals, replacements and conversions and living benefit solutions.
Develop, implement, and manage review of all High Net Worth (HNW) clients and large deposit policies; triage high risk cases and take action to mitigate risks.
  • Oversight of the ever-growing TDWIS in force block of business, currently over 17,000 policies, with a focus on high-risk policies to ensure client objectives/needs continue to be met.
  • Oversight and control over all requests from advisors who wish to become service advisor for a life insurance policy sold outside TDWIS; and accountability for conducting the risk review assessment to determine the level of risk and liability associated with assuming responsibility for service.
  • Maintain oversight of contractual policy changes, including such high-risk transactions as cash value withdrawals, face amount reductions, ownership changes, etc., all with the mandate of mitigation of financial, reputational, and regulatory risk.
  • Oversight and control of; and a contact point for policy service and maintenance of clients who are orphaned due to the departure of their referral Relationship Manager.
  • Work closely with life insurance carrier experts, including product specialists and marketing actuaries, to investigate and clearly communicate solutions to complicated cases including client complaints.
  • Create and deliver insurance training material for new and existing advisors both face to face, webcasts and via the TDW Intranet.
  • Create TD branded material and tools to support the Advisor in delivering legendary client experiences.
Develop and manage ongoing partnerships and relationships across various TD Wealth lines of business as well as with external partners.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of the TD Wealth Insurance business and the Insurance regulatory environment.
  • Maintain awareness of insurance products, initiatives, and developments in the industry and in force services offered by external providers.

Job Requirements
  • At least 5+ years' experience in the life insurance business
  • Life insurance license and sales experience, mandatory
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation is an asset
  • Experience working in a corporate environment is an asset
  • Strong working knowledge in French is an asset

  • Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other relevant applications.
  • Strong understanding of provincial regulatory requirements for policy management.
