will be responsible for ensuring accurate tariff classification, maintaining compliance with Canadian and international trade regulations, and supporting cross-border operations throughout North America. Key Responsibilities:
Review and classify product lines
to ensure accurate HS codes and tariff numbers, while maintaining a comprehensive company-wide tariff database.
Monitor and apply current customs regulations (
CBSA, CBP, and international) to ensure ongoing compliance with trade laws and duty requirements.
Prepare, review, and maintain import/export documentation
, certificates of origin, and other compliance records; process amendments and duty refunds as needed.
Ensure adherence to trade agreements
such as CUSMA/USMCA, T-MEC, and WTO; apply for customs rulings and manage government reporting obligations.
Manage customs-related issues across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico
, including duty mitigation strategies, incoterm reviews, and bonded shipments.
Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory agencies
to facilitate compliant and efficient cross-border transactions.
Support audits and internal reviews
by maintaining accurate documentation and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with internal teams
--including Logistics, Procurement, Product Development, and Finance--to ensure compliance is integrated across business functions.
Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders
, promoting awareness of trade compliance requirements and fostering a culture of accountability.
Learn and support other areas within the Logistics Department,
strengthening your knowledge by learning and supporting all other aspects of the Logistics Department.
Required Qualifications:
Certified Customs Specialist designation required (either in progress or good standing)
5+ years of experience in customs compliance or international trade within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
5+ years of experience with Canada-U.S. trade relations, free trade agreements, and -global regulatory frameworks.
3+ years of experience working with the Harmonized System (HS) and Customs Tariff.
3+ years of experience with customs audits or post-entry adjustments
3+ years of experience with duty drawback programs, export controls
3+ years of experience working with ERP systems and trade compliance tools.
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations and engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual (English/French or English/Spanish)
Membership in trade associations (e.g., CSCB, CITT, IE Canada, CME)
Additional Information:
This position is 100% onsite located in Murray Industrial Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba. There is limited bus access to this location.
