What you will do
Reporting to the Direct of Projects, the Water Truck Driver is responsible for loading and unloading the truck, performing daily inspections, adhering to safety regulations and other related duties for customers within Yellowknife and surrounding areas. This role requires weekend work, overtime, and standby availability.
A Day in the Life
Reporting to the Director of Projects, your job duties include:
  • Safely operate and drive the water truck to transport water to various job sites or locations as directed.
  • Adhere to all traffic rules and regulations while driving on public roads.
  • Follow designated routes or work orders for water delivery.
  • Monitor and maintain the water levels in the truck to ensure an adequate supply during the shift.
  • Load and unload the water truck as required at the designated delivery points.
  • Discharge water onto construction sites, roads, or other designated areas for dust suppression or other purposes.
  • Control the water flow and pressure to ensure proper distribution and prevent wastage.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip inspections to ensure the water truck's mechanical condition, safety equipment, and fluid levels are optimal.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as checking oil levels, tire pressure, and cleaning the truck's interior and exterior.
  • Report any mechanical issues, damages, or malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
  • Comply with all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
  • Ensure that the water truck is operated in a safe and responsible manner, avoiding accidents or damage to property.
  • Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses to the appropriate personnel immediately.
  • Performs other related duties as required
What You Bring
  • Must have Class 3 drivers license w/ Air Break Endorsement
  • 3 plus years of driving experience
  • Able to provide a Driver's Abstract
  • Good Physical condition and able to lift and handle vacuum truck hoses
