Job Description

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Watchkeeping Mate Unlimited COC or higher certificate of competency issued by Transport Canada
  • Basic Safety Training (BST)
  • DP Induction
  • STCW Basic Safety
  • STCW Survival Craft
  • STCW Advanced Fire Fighting
  • ECDIS
  • General Operator Certificate (GMDSS)
  • Valid Marine Basic or Advanced First Aid
  • Security Training for Vessel Personnel with Security Responsibilities
  • Transport Canada Marine Medical
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks
Responsibilities:
  • Safe navigation of the vessel to ensure that all navigational operations are completed in accordance with Company policies and procedures, regulations and Master?s Standing Orders.
  • Maintain the Deck and Radio Logbooks
  • Utilize vessel's bridge and navigation equipment. Assist with voyage planning and rig move operations.
  • Care, inspection and maintenance of all lifesaving and firefighting appliances (i.e., Lifejackets, Survival Suits, GMDSS Radios, Life Rafts, Rescue Boats, Fast Rescue Crafts, Fire Extinguishers etc.).
  • Verify that the vessel?s firefighting and Lifesaving Appliances Plans are posted in proper areas and maintained current.
  • Record safety meeting minutes and submit meeting reports to the Master for review.
  • Prepare Emergency Drill Reports.
  • Contribute to a Safety culture by: Understanding and complying with various safety processes within the Safety Management System
  • Possessing the skills to perform job related tasks and apply safe practices while performing physical tasks. Having a thorough understanding of precautions and procedures related to the Safety Management System Having thorough understanding of pollution regulations and the company?s objectives regarding environmental protection.
  • Provide assistance during anchoring operations.
  • Responsible for the electronic navigation equipment on board. Ensure that the vessel's navigational equipment is maintained, fully functional and tested.
  • As safety officer, ensure all safety equipment is operating as required.
  • Other duties as required.

  • 12 hour shift
