Wastewater Operator
12 month Contract - Full Time hoursInternal/External Job Posting Job Posting #: 2022-46The City of Owen Sound is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of a Wastewater Operator for a 12 month period. The position will perform a variety of duties relating to the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the City's Wastewater systems in compliance with the Ministry of the Environment regulations and environmental compliance approval requirements. The City has recently upgraded the Wastewater Plant featuring Biological Aerated Filter (BAF) Secondary Treatment.The successful candidate will have a college diploma and/or demonstrated Wastewater Operating experience, and Ministry of Environment Wastewater Treatment certification. Wastewater Collection certification will be an asset . Previous work experience in municipal wastewater treatment and/or collection systems is required..Skills / Competencies Required: Valid G Driver's License Knowledge of equipment, methods, tools, and materials used in the operation and maintenance of wastewater systems. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, other City employees, and the general public. Must be able to interpret work orders, specifications, standards, and instructions, and interpret plan/profile drawings, sketches, and diagrams. Knowledge of underground utilities and construction techniques. Basic knowledge and ability relating to computer systems and software i/c SCADA. Knowledge of OSHA especially related to confined space standards.
