As a Waste Management Engineer, you will oversee the ongoing contract management for the Calgary Composting Facility, ensuring that the City's interests are met, both environmentally and financially, throughout the operation of the facility. You will provide in-house subject matter expertise in composting, anaerobic digestion and organics program delivery. Primary duties include:
Assist with monitoring the operational and financial aspects of the Calgary Composting Facility Project Agreement during the Operations, Maintenance and Rehabilitation (OMR) period.
Support the review of daily activities of the facility operator, including odour management, equipment monitoring, building maintenance, facility wait times, feedstock contamination, and residuals.
Assist in verifying that the facility operator complies with the Shepard Waste Management Facility operating approval and other applicable legislation.
Support monitoring and assessment of contractor performance and help address issues as they arise.
Provide technical assistance in coordinating and tracking operational activities and contribute to the development of annual plans and budgets.
Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, City business units, and other interested parties to support resolution of issues related to the operation of the Calgary Composting Facility.
Contribute to building relationships with internal and external technical experts and operations staff to encourage adoption of new technologies, tools, and innovations.
