Overview

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Driver to join our growing team in Nanaimo. This position will begin as a part-time role and is expected to transition into a full-time opportunity within a few months, based on operational needs and performance.

As a company new to the Nanaimo market, we are excited to expand our local presence and welcome a dedicated driver who is interested in growing with us. The successful candidate will be responsible for hitching and towing waste bins and totes from waste rooms to street level for collection and returning them to their designated waste rooms after servicing.

This role requires a strong commitment to safety, sound driving judgment, and clear communication with dispatch and management.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate company vehicles to hitch, tow, and return waste bins and totes between waste rooms and designated street-level collection points. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, bins, and totes to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance. Load and unload bins and totes as required, using proper lifting and handling techniques. Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety standards, and company operating procedures. Communicate clearly and promptly with dispatch, management, and team members regarding site conditions, bin status, or equipment issues. Notify management when bins or totes remain full at the end of the day or are unexpectedly empty in the morning.
Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience in the waste bin pull-out industry is considered an asset. Familiarity with the waste management industry is an asset. Experience with towing is an asset. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a safety-first mindset.

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
