Warehouse Receiver and Material Handler

AWT Ottawa has an opening for permanent, full-time, Warehouse Receiver and Material Handler; please note this posting is for an existing vacancy.

The Warehouse Receiver and Material Handler is responsible for receiving, inspecting and organizing incoming shipments, as well as handling, storing and distributing goods within the warehouse.

Who you are:

Experienced in shipping/receiving/warehousing in the manufacturing industry (minimum 2 years). Detailed oriented / problem solver. Experienced operating forklifts and pallet jacks. Team player with good time management skills and able to multitask while prioritizing based on urgency. Able to work with minimal supervision and handle emergency situations. Good communicator (verbal and written skills). Able to work collaboratively and independently with a team and external contractors. Safety-first attitude. Ethical worker. Able to stand for long periods of time in one area and dexterity. Computer literate and generally comfortable with technology. Knowledgeable about 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices (asset) Able to obtain Controlled Goods Certification

What are considered assets:

Experience in the printing/flexographic industry. Experience in shipping/receiving/warehousing in the manufacturing industry.

Primary responsibilities

Receives and unloads incoming shipments. Inspects received goods for accuracy, damage and discrepancies. Verifies received goods against purchase orders, packing slips and invoices. Records received goods in the ERP system. Transports and distributes goods to designated storage or production areas. Operates forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely to lift, move and arrange shipments. Organizes and maintains inventory in racks and shelves for easy access. Assists in cycle counts, stock rotation and inventory control activities. Ensures accurate labeling, tagging and documentation of received and stored materials. Collaborates with all departments to ensure timely receipt of goods. Responds to shipping/receiving enquiries and communicates with all departments. Supports shipping and staging outbound finished goods when required. Performs general warehouse maintenance. Supports "Lean" initiatives, as well as 5S programs in concert with production management. Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in warehousing processes and implements best practices to optimize the use of resources and quality. Other duties as assigned.
