KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
3+ years in warehouse or logistics management, with experience leading and motivating warehouse teams in high-volume environments.
Proven track record in managing inventory, implementing cycle counts, and reducing stock discrepancies.
Demonstrated success in cost control, managing budgets, and improving warehouse processes for efficiency.
Experience with workforce management, including staffing, scheduling, and performance reviews, to ensure smooth operations and high morale.
Strong background in problem-solving, resolving operational challenges, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Extensive understanding of warehouse management, including layout design, material handling, and efficient storage techniques.
Knowledge of warehouse automation systems, barcode scanning, and real-time tracking software to ensure accurate inventory management.
Familiarity with OHSA regulations, health and safety laws, and warehouse safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
Expertise in logistics, supply chain management, and the best practices for optimizing order fulfillment, minimizing lead times, and reducing errors.
Excellent understanding of business professionalism and public relations skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods within the warehouse.
Ensure accurate inventory counts through regular stock audits and cycle counts.
Maintain proper inventory records and track products using warehouse
management systems (WMS).
Manage the rotation of stock, including organizing products based on demand or shelflife
Lead, train, and supervise warehouse personnel, including forklift operators, packers, and inventory clerks.
Assign tasks and ensure that work is carried out efficiently and according to company standards.
Monitor staff performance and provide coaching or corrective action as needed.
Schedule shifts and manage labor resources to ensure optimal productivity.
Design and maintain an efficient warehouse layout to maximize space utilization and minimize handling time.
Ensure that goods are stored in the appropriate locations and are easy to access when needed.
Implement and maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
Optimize workflows to improve operational efficiency and reduce delays.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including OSHA or local safety standards.
Conduct safety audits, enforce safety protocols, and train staff on proper safety practices (e.g., lifting techniques, use of equipment).
Address potential hazards, implement safety improvements, and ensure the warehouse is properly marked for safety.
Oversee the picking, packing, and shipping of orders to ensure they are completed accurately and on time.
Coordinate with logistics and transportation teams to ensure timely deliveries.
Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of outgoing shipments.
Manage returns and exchanges, ensuring products are processed back into inventory or handled as per company policies.
Implement and oversee the use of warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technological tools to streamline operations.
Ensure proper functioning of equipment such as forklifts, conveyors, and barcode scanners.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with warehouse systems or machinery in collaboration with maintenance teams.
Oversee the warehouse budget, ensuring that expenses for labor, equipment, and supplies are within the allocated budget.
Identify and implement cost-saving measures, such as optimizing staffing, reducing waste, or improving energy efficiency.
Monitor shipping costs and negotiate with logistics providers to secure the best rates.
Ensure that incoming goods are inspected for damage and quality before being accepted into inventory.
Conduct regular quality checks on products to ensure that they meet the required standards.
Resolve discrepancies in inventory and shipping orders promptly to maintain high accuracy levels.
Maintain detailed records of warehouse activities, including inventory levels, shipment tracking, and staff hours.
Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management regarding warehouse performance, efficiency, and any operational issues.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, inventory turnover, and on-time shipments.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance warehouse efficiency.
Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in warehouse management and technology, such as automation and robotics.
Lead initiatives for employee training, equipment upgrades, and safety enhancements.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a warehouse-based role that involves both indoor and outdoor activities. The Warehouse Manager will work indoors within the warehouse, handling inventory, equipment, and overseeing day-to-day operations. The role also requires occasional outdoor work, such as receiving deliveries, managing outdoor storage areas, or overseeing shipments. Employees must be prepared for varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, or rain, as tasks may be carried out outside. Physical stamina and adaptability to changing environmental conditions are essential for maintaining productivity and safety.
