As the manager of the warehouse team, you will supervise and collaborate with colleagues and volunteers to manage food donations and distribution to member food banks and agencies, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This position is responsible for supervising and participating in the execution of day-to-day warehouse activities like: receiving, inventory management, picking and shipping, assisting volunteers and donors as well as ensuring all federal standards for food quality/safety and provincial OH&S safety measures are being followed.
Responsibilities
To enforce standard warehouse operating procedures and individual checklists, including: receiving, safe food handling, cold chain, food sorting, waste management, warehouse cleaning/sanitation, pest management, and order picking.
Properly use the warehouse inventory system (Primarius) to track all shipping and receiving activities appropriately.
Administer the pallet exchange program.
Assign tasks to warehouse staff and ensure productivity.
Train, guide, and evaluate new warehouse staff and volunteers.
Ensure all warehouse staff/volunteers follow workplace safety policies and procedures and ensure that proper PPE is being worn.
Track expenses related to fuel, storage, and truck/equipment maintenance.
Enter received donations and purchases into the inventory system.
Weigh all orders of food being shipped to member food banks, entering them correctly into the inventory system to enable traceability for food recalls.
Pick member food bank orders in advance of the shipping/pick-up deadline, ensuring orders are stored properly until shipped.
Handle and store incoming products according to Health Canada's food safety and handling regulations (including disposal or quarantine if necessary).
Implementing operational policies and procedures.
Maintaining digital documentation and keeping accurate records of warehouse activities.
Work with driver(s) and driver assistant(s) to load and unload trucks.
Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, following proper procedures and safety measures.
Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any malfunctions, concerns, or issues.
Greet and assist food donors who come to the warehouse to drop off food donations.
Monitor the weighing, receiving, sorting, and inspecting of all donations and purchases of food to ensure quality control while adhering to Health Canada's safe food handling practices, best before/expiry dates, and safe transfer and proper storage of products in designated areas.
Ensure all areas of the warehouse are free of debris, and hazards, and cleaned frequently. At the end of each day, return all equipment to designated areas and ensure proper recharging procedures.
Report all unsafe situations, practises, and equipment to the General Manager.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Clear criminal background check
2+ years experience in a warehouse environment
High School diploma or equivalent
Familiarity with warehouse policies and practises such as safe food handling and workplace safety
Forklift and Pallet jack license/certifications desired

Previous experience with Inventory Software and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Proficiency in health and safety regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
Flexible and able to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
Ability to assess situations for urgency and risks, and make clear, timely decisions that are in the best interests of Community Food Sharing Association.
Leadership skills and ability to manage staff.
Be in good physical condition and endurance to handle regular physical activity and heavy lifting as required.
