Here\'s what you\'ll be doing....

Receive merchandise from warehouse stock and prepare it to be shipped according to instructions. Receive inbound stock, process returned stock, check inventory and assist in maintaining related records.

Hours of Work:

  • Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm (4 positions)
  • Monday - Friday 6:30am - 3:00pm (1 position)
Wage Rate:
  • $22.28
This is a unionized position in the Canadian Union of Public Employees, full-time Local 3261

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Release orders according to the daily schedule or special instructions from the Warehouse Manager
  • Assign orders to part time employees performing picking
  • Receive and put-away new receipts; sign for incoming deliveries. Direct part time staff assisting with receiving
  • Fulfil replenishment orders from the bulk sections of the warehouse
  • Process returns; direct part-time staff processing returns; ensure returns processing is carried out accurately and timely. Submit daily report on returns activity
  • Retrieve merchandise from warehouse inventory and assembles to complete assigned orders
  • Follow up to source missing stock and missing stock from orders
  • Prepare orders for shipping according to instructions, ensure product is packed according to established standards before assigning a carrier
  • Process complex shipments referred by part-time staff
  • Replenish, pick, pack, ship and confirm orders in a timely manner
  • Consolidate product to cartons from picking locations
  • Scan on/off orders for packing/confirming for shipping
  • Operates a 2-ton lift truck
  • General cleaning
  • Assist with annual inventory count
  • Undertake special projects assigned by the Warehouse Manager or Lead Hand
  • Perform other related duties as required
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
  • High school graduate; or combination of education/experience
  • 2-ton Lift Truck certification*
  • Sky Jack certification*
  • Order Picker certification*
  • Move/lift/carry cartons and products weighing up to 40lbs
*Willing to train

  • Hand truck
  • 2-ton Lift Truck (Swing Reach and Double Reach), Sky Jack, Order Picker, Electric Walkie
  • Computer system

About our Team:

The Distribution Division is based at 5201 Dufferin Street, in Toronto and provides shipping, receiving and storage for the University of Toronto Press and approximately 40 independent publishers. Normal operations for the facility is 16 hours a day, 6 days a week, and is staffed by more than 100 full and part-time, warehouse and office employees.
