Are you ready to contribute to a healthcare legacy that makes a difference?In support of the efficient operation of the Emergency Department, the Ward Clerk facilitates the flow of patient care efficiently and safely through accurate and timely completion of assigned duties. Patient care is provided with an interdisciplinary focus. The Ward Clerk is required to work with all members of the Health Care Team in a Collaborative fashion. The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical support, perform reception responsibilities including interacting with the public to answer questions to provide excellent patient experience, organizing and maintaining patient charts, electronic and paper information filing systems; performing patient administration functions including scheduling and coordinating appointments, and performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.QUALIFICIATIONSThe ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Previous experience in a health-related setting
• Excellent computer skills in MSOffice word processing and spreadsheet programs
• Ability to utilize Meditech computer and systems
• Demonstrated appreciation and respect for protocol, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Completion of medical terminology course
• Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize the workload and multi-task
• Ability to work efficiently independently and in a teamwork environment
• Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

HOURS OF WORKPermanent Casual. Mainly call in and vacation relief. Required to provide availability for a minimum of six (6) shifts per month. Shifts include days, nights and weekends.
