Summary

Our highway division is hiring a Sign Person for the upcoming 2023 construction season.

The Sign Person is responsible for carrying out the traffic control plan on job sites by setting up required signage and coordinating flag personnel to direct traffic through and around active work.

Key Responsibilities

Traffic Control
- Coordinate with site Supervisor daily regarding traffic control plan.
- Ensure proper signage is in place on job site before work begins.
- Monitor job site throughout the workday for any signage adjustments of fixes.
- Act as lead for all traffic control personnel on site and assist site Supervisor in the division of work for all Flaggers.
- Provide training to flag personnel as needed.
- Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company\'s Code of Ethics.
- Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
- Other labour related duties as required.

Safety
- Promote, execute, and adhere to the company\'s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work with Safety Department to investigate damage, incidents or near misses in the worksite, and ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company\'s Safety Program.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.

Teamwork
- Participate as a team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.
- Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
- Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.

Qualifications/ Responsibilities

Education and Training
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
- Class 5 driver\'s license
- Traffic Control Training Certification considered an asset

Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience within the construction industry
- Minimum 1-3 years experience in a related industry as Traffic Control

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of road construction processes
- Understanding of traffic control guidelines and requirements
- Communication skills
- Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination
- Work well with others
- Punctual and timely
- Customer service focused
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Working Conditions

- Out of town travel is required, accommodations and Live Out Allowance may be applicable.
- Overtime as required.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Must comply with the company\'s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
