People Can Fly is looking for a real-time Lead Artist to work on our upcoming AAA VR games.

As the Lead Artist, you will oversee and work alongside a team of 3D Artists who will create immersive environments and top-quality assets for a VR game. You will be in charge of motivating and leading the team, and your expertise in artistic, technical, and managerial domains is essential for the success of the project. Your job involves planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluating the team\'s work to ensure that they meet production objectives within set timelines and quality standards. You must be able to anticipate and solve issues on both the team and production levels, and collaborate with the leads from other disciplines, to deliver a visually stunning experience for the game.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the art team to develop and execute the game\'s visual style and direction, including character design, environment design, lighting, UI, and visual effects
  • Collaborate with the game designers and developers to ensure that the visual style supports the gameplay and narrative goals of the game
  • Create and maintain art pipelines and workflows, ensuring that all assets are optimized for performance and meet the technical requirements of the Unreal Engine
  • Manage and mentor the art team, providing feedback and guidance to ensure high-quality work and efficient workflow
  • Work with other departments, including audio, and programming, to ensure a cohesive and polished final product
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies, and incorporate new techniques and tools as appropriate to enhance the game\'s visuals
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience as a artist in game development
  • A minimum of 4 years having lead a team of cross-discipline artists
  • Work on at least one shipped AAA title
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Mentor junior and mid-level artists and provide feedback on best practices
  • A wide range of experiences in all areas of game art, a critical eye for art disciplines like Animation, Character, Environment, VFX, and UI
  • Experience with developing real-time art for both high end (PC / console) and lower end (mobile) graphics
  • Able to take direction and implement feedback
  • Ability to think outside the box to come up with more efficient techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines
  • High work ethic and self-motivation

  • Understanding Art needs of VR
Nice to have:
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine is a plus
  • Practical experience with lower end hardware
