Join our team, and help recognize a healthy future for your career and for all Canadians.Why this role is important?Vice President, OperationsReporting directly to the Senior Vice President, SDM National Operations, the incumbent creates and implements strategies, initiatives and targets designed to drive top line revenue, control total expense and increase bottom line profitability, measured against overall corporate plans. The incumbent provides leadership and direction to ensure compliance to, and execution of, all company standards, professional standards and all store specific direction from other functional heads.Team of specialists:

What You'll Do:

• Attends various meetings and performs individual store visitations to analyze, categorize and communicate the overall corporate strategy to all Business Unit team members, Associates and their employees.
• Monitors and analyzes the performance strategies to identify areas of opportunity, respond with action plans, ensure maximum competitiveness and meet or exceed financial targets.
• Monitors the competitive landscape of the Business Unit to ensure in-depth knowledge of new competition entering the market and develop a planned response to minimize impact on business. Liaises closely with corporate functions including merchandising, marketing, finance and real estate.
• Determines and manages the total succession planning needs for the Business Unit, including the identification of future talent and provision of necessary training and business exposure.
• Oversees workloads and provides staff supervision to ensure that work is done accurately, efficiently and complies with policies, procedures and standards as well as best working practices.
• Provides guidance, motivation, and performance review including hiring and terminating employees, to maintain and enhance competency levels, identify future training requirements and achieve goals to increase performance.
• Manages, evaluates, develops and implements departmental budgets, operations tactics and strategies to maximize efficiency and adapt to changes in the marketplace to ensure market share growth. Develops and establishes short and long term departmental goals, objectives policies and operating procedures.
• Attends various meeting, conferences, seminars etc. with professional, regulatory, special interest, vendor and charitable groups to represent the corporation to outside stake holders.
• Provides guidance and holds team members accountable to building strong relationships with the associates and their teams by reinforcing and expecting use of CORE values and Blue Culture

What You'll Need:

• This position requires a superior level of initiative and judgment in order to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects. Courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required in dealing with all stakeholders in every day working relationships.
• Requires extensive knowledge and skill in multiple disciplines to be able to integrate them effectively and a capacity to understand and interpret conflicting goals and needs of diverse groups.

• Negotiates in highly competitive or adversarial circumstances where extensive skills in negotiation or high levels of diplomacy are needed.

• Decisions are highly complex in nature involving multiple elements, factors and interests to develop new models and processes to meet future needs within a framework of corporate policy, general direction, multiple needs and legislated compliance.
• Adaptable to set and prioritize work with multiple exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
• Communicates with clarity, verbally and in one on one or group situations, or over the telephone.
• Communicates well in writing by composing clear documents; facility with editing and/or proof-reading is required.
• Computer skills to create and interpret reports, documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
• Business acumen - superior knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, promotional and relationship management principles and practices.

Experience

• Greater than ten years but less than or equal to fifteen years retail operations, business, marketing or equivalent experience.

Education

• Post secondary equivalent to a Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Merchandising, or related field. MBA is an asset.
