Our Calgary-based client is looking to add to their growing team!The Director of Commercial Warehousing and Distribution is responsible for achieving the prescribed company objectives and maximize the daily, weekly, monthly, and annual performance of the business. This role will provide overall leadership in the areas of customer relations, new business development, operational performance, P&L management, continuous improvement, and Employee development.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify new client marketplaces, existing client growth opportunities, and exposure for vertical integration.
  • Execute the setup of new sites as identified as part of the corporate strategy, including inter-regional and extra-regional expansion plans.
  • Provide sales quotes and prepare contracts within required timelines.
  • Consult with clients after sale or signed contracts to provide ongoing support.
  • Understand and convert all corporate strategic directives into departmental processes and objectives.
  • Quarterly travel to meet with clients and regular client development promotional engagement activities as required.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in place to support the overall business strategy, meeting all cost, quality, and service targets.
  • Multiple site management utilizing strong operational teams to execute day-to-day operational service functions.
  • Initiates Kai Zen methodology in all operations, including investigating service risks/problems to determine root cause and resolution.
  • Works in close contact with and develops relationships with all internal/external customers.
  • Drive change and results to improve processes and procedures and the bottom line.
  • Lead train and mentor teams providing direction and development of both corporate and personal career goals.
  • Appraise performance; address issues and resolve problems.
  • Continued development/maintenance of a safe and harassment-free work environment.
  • Identify and recommend policies to maximize revenues and minimize operational costs.
  • Instrumental in strategic business planning, working as a member of the ELT (Executive Leadership Team) to achieve business goals, including new clients, additional operational services, competitive acquisitions, or mergers.
  • Office/warehouse environment.
  • This position will usually work the standard work week that is split between the warehouse and office, although additional duties outside of normal hours are common. Travel throughout Canada and the US will be a regular requirement.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent industry certification with emphasis given to Business Management, Commerce, or Supply Chain concentration.
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in Operations Management within the Commercial Logistics field.
  • 3PL experience is required.
  • Experience with Budgeting & Financial Statements.
  • Demonstrated success in managing functional and cross functional teams with record of success.
  • Multi-Client warehouse experience and services focused.
  • Strong knowledge / experience in Kaizen (process improvement).
  • National expertise including Ontario & Alberta in warehouse management procedures and best practices.
  • National knowledge of laws, regulations, and other legal requirements
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives, using (Kaizen)
  • Proven working experience in a similar role/ record of successful distribution and logistics management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Strong decision making and critical thinking skills.
  • Abilityto work independently and handle multiple projects/ track multiple processes.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff.
  • Technical skills such as WMS, Microsoft, outlook, others necessary to run the warehouse.
  • Strong presentation, reporting, communication, and people skills.
