The current, centralized electricity system is not sustainable. Between the climate crisis, state-wide blackouts, aging infrastructure, and rising costs, the system needs a huge overhaul. The demand for electricity is high \xe2\x80\x93 and getting higher \xe2\x80\x93 and big power plants aren\'t meeting our needs. We say it\'s time to disrupt and decentralize.

At , we\'re energy nerds that develop software for the real estate sector. Our tech turns commercial buildings and industrial facilities into hubs in a new, decentralized electricity system. This means cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable electricity. We\xe2\x80\x99re powering the clean energy revolution.

Peak Power has developed a comprehensive software platform that alleviates strain on the electricity grid and drives value to owners of clean energy assets, buildings, and electric vehicles (EVs) through electricity markets.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the CFO, the Vice President of Legal Affairs will provide Peak Power\'s Executive Team expert legal, transactional, structuring, strategic and tactical counsel. This will pertain to each of its main business lines on corporate matters, complex commercial arrangements, financial advisory mandates, acting as an external legal representative, and negotiating strategic transactions.

This work matters. Even a small change to optimize power utilization can significantly impact our customers, electrical grid, and environment. We\'re building something that will have a lasting, positive impact.

Our new Vice President of Legal Affairs will:

Develop. You will develop and maintain subject matter expertise in the complex fields of capital, commercial, corporate law, and other speciality areas relevant to Peak Power\xe2\x80\x99s businesses.

Commercial: Advice on all commercial law matters. Draft, review, and negotiate all contractual agreements, service agreements, partner, and vendor agreements, joint ventures, and licensing agreements.

Capital: Advice on all securities and corporate transactions, including securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate structure

Corporate: Lead regulatory compliance and risk management, employment and contractor agreements, review marketing material for compliance considerations

Deliver. You will engage and complete transactions quickly and effectively while balancing speed with legal and regulatory compliance objectives.

Evaluate, negotiate, and manage multiple complex transactions that are time-sensitive and strategically important to Peak Power

Collaborate. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and externally at all levels.

Oversee and provide sound coordination with external counsel as it pertains to commercial contracts, human resources, and capital raises

Support the development of strategic planning and implementation as it pertains to intellectual property, privacy, and security

Grow. You will be a critical thinker who proactively researches and anticipate unique legal situations that may impact Peak Power\'s businesses and provide counsel to mitigate risk. You will provide strategic and solutions-based advice to the company on new initiatives. We bring new ideas to the energy sector to build a better future.

What you bring to Peak Power:

The education. You have a Juris Doctor degree (JD) or equivalent.

The experience. You have proven experience delivering success in a fast-paced, changing environment while managing several projects simultaneously. You have at least 8 years of experience gained in top-tier law firms or in-house within a significant firm. Experience in the energy or commercial real estate sectors is considered an asset.

The drive and curiosity. You have a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and are motivated to solve problems and support team success. You are passionate about contributing to innovative solutions to climate change.

The flexibility. You can adapt your activities as needed to support evolving team priorities in a rapidly changing business environment. This role provides opportunities for flexible working arrangements.
