Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Basketball Trainer/ Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for educating players on the fundamentals basketball, fostering teamwork, and enhancing individual skills. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be capable of training youth at a variety of skill levels, as well as creating progressively challenging training programs to foster player skill development.

This is a part-time (3 hours on Monday evenings) role for a Volunteer Basketball Coach located in Mississauga, ON. Programs run on 12-week cycles (Mid-September to mid-December and early-January to late-April).

Duties

Develop and implement training sessions that focus on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies. Educate players on the rules of basketball, sportsmanship, and the importance of physical fitness. Assess individual player performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve. Organize and help lead practices, ensuring that all players are engaged and learning effectively. Communicate regularly with players, parents, and other coaches regarding player progress. Foster a positive environment that encourages participation, respect, and enjoyment of the sport.

Experience

Previous coaching experience or a strong background in playing basketball is preferred. Knowledge of basketball techniques, strategies, and rules is essential. Ability to educate young athletes effectively while maintaining a fun and engaging atmosphere. Experience in working with children or youth sports programs is a plus. Strong communication skills to interact with players, parents, and staff effectively.
