Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager, Volunteer Services, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of Victoria Hospital, the Volunteer Services Assistant provides support for the operation of the Volunteer Program by assisting with recruitment, screening, orientation, scheduling, supervision, evaluation, recognition of volunteers and performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Two (2) years' experience working in the volunteer services sector including;
  • Volunteer recruitment, interviewing, screening, problem solving, supervising, orientation and training.
  • One (1) year supervisory experience.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade XII or recognized equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary certificate/diploma program, preferably in volunteer services or health care administration.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office including; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Volgistics Volunteer Management Software or similar data base systems.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior organizational skills with ability to prioritize and work independently.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues/information in a professional manner.
  • Ability to supervise a variety of tasks and function in a high volume office with frequent interruptions.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
