About the Opportunity

At Nova Scotia Health, volunteers play a vital role in supporting care and service delivery across the continuum of care.

Working in collaboration with NSH stakeholders and community partners, the Volunteer Program Lead for Annapolis Valley Hospice and Palliative Care is responsible for recruiting, screening, training, and supporting volunteers who provide supplementary and complementary care services to enhance the quality of life for palliative care patients who reside at Valley Hospice or at home.

Reporting to the Health Services Managers at Valley Hospice and the Annapolis Valley Community Palliative Care Team, the Volunteer Program Lead will play an integral role in the ongoing development of volunteer supports to best meet palliative patients\xe2\x80\x99 needs.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Minimum one year recent/related experience required
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, follow-through and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently and accurately manage multiple, time-sensitive priorities
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships
  • High level of competency in both written and verbal communication
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent consultative, influencing, and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

Hours
  • Part-time Long Assignment, 40% FTE; 30 hours biweekly
  • Approximately 12 months
  • Some travel may be required
  • Hybrid position, a mix of on site and work from home
Compensation and Incentives

$30.32 - $37.90 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)
