The Volunteer Coordinator position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Centre for Newcomers' volunteer activities. The position ensures the building and maintaining of CFN's Volunteer Program through engaging community members, supporting agency events, as well as ensuring standards of service excellence are maintained. To ensure service excellence, the position coordinates volunteer activities with all departments within the agency and engages with community partners and volunteers to support our communities through effective volunteer delivery system.
Responsibilities
Developing and implementing recruitment strategies, including interviewing and screening potential volunteers, assessing suitability of volunteer placement and conducting volunteer orientation
Developing and maintaining policies and procedures, the volunteer handbook and program standards
Developing a volunteer base to support the delivery of programs, services and events
Monitoring and / or managing the volunteers' experiences to ensure they are meeting the organization's needs and the volunteer's expectations
Maintaining the volunteer database and providing statistical reports as directed
Adhering to deadlines and ability to set priorities
Working well with all organization teams by contributing to, providing volunteers, assistance and support when the need arises
Monitoring progress of programs and activities, and responding to opportunities and challenges in a timely manner
Promoting volunteer engagement through the delivery of dynamic community presentations
Ensuring that all administrative responsibilities that support programs are fully delivered
Coordinating volunteer-run projects that create service and leadership opportunities for volunteers
Demonstrating a positive and enthusiastic attitude
Openness to a flexible work schedule which includes evenings and weekends

Technical:
Excellent computer, internet skills; competence in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

applicants are experienced in participatory approaches conflict management and resolution and are confident and comfortable in managing exchanges where conflicting community issues arise.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Qualifications & requirements
Post-secondary education combined with work experience in community, volunteer management, program planning and event planning;
2-5 years professional experience in coordination of volunteer programs in a not-for-profit organization;
Proven communication, group facilitation, time management and community development skills;
Excellent organizational, detail oriented, database, office equipment and software skills;
A strong work ethic with outstanding interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to motivate and drive engagement;
Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines;
Proficient in Microsoft office suite
Class 5 Driver License is a must.
Working conditions
