The Opportunity





We are seeking a Volunteer Associate Coordinator to oversee APC's volunteers and carry out the day-to-day functions of APC's volunteer programs. This position will typically work 5 days a week (Friday-Tuesday), although flexibility in scheduling will be required to accommodate special events, functions, and additional program needs and may include evenings as well as variety in day shifts.



Reporting to the Manager, Volunteer Resources, the Associate Coordinator, Volunteer Resources is responsible for supervision of APC volunteers; training and onboarding new volunteers, program administration and reporting, working in collaboration with other business units and responsible for the daily operations of Volunteer Resources Department in the absence of the Manager, Specialists, or Coordinators of Volunteer Resources.


Responsibilities




Working in collaboration with Events and other APC staff, recruit, onboard, schedule and support community volunteers Schedule volunteer activities, including maintaining the online Better Impact master schedule Provide direct and indirect support to all volunteers and to APC staff supervising volunteers Communicate regularly with volunteers through face-to-face conversations, emails, texts, etc. and communicate personal appreciation for their efforts on APC's behalf Maintain accurate records for all volunteers and produce timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation via the volunteer database (Better Impact) and other tools (i.e. Survey Monkey, JotForm) as directed
Provide input into policies and procedures, develop and update documents, volunteer materials, guides, and programs as required

Required Education, Training, and Experience




Bachelor's Degree in volunteer management, recreation management, business, social sciences, human resources, community development or associated field. Certificate in Volunteer Management through an accredited institution is an asset. Possession of a valid Manitoba Driver's License, or the ability to meet the travel requirements of the role. Minimum 1 year of experience in coordinating volunteer programs and supervising volunteers or related experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Physical Working

Conditions




Work in an open office with many interruptions. Must be comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather. Combination of sitting, standing, pushing, lifting, and walking for extended periods. Noise exposure from visitors and large crowds. Potential exposure to strong scents from animals and plants.
