SOHYA Consulting Inc., founded in 2015, is an education service provider specializing in

academic planning, structured instructional programs, and higher education preparation

. We provide high-quality tutoring across academic subjects, STEM, new media, and visual arts, as well as undergraduate and master's application planning for Canadian and U.S. universities.

In recent years, we have expanded our platform by integrating educational R&D, curriculum resources, and technology-enabled services. Our goal is to become a leading professional education organization, offering systematic teaching programs and support platforms to students and other educational institutions.

Our Visual Arts course offers a tiered training model to meet different learner needs:

Foundation Class (ages 5-9): introductory training in visual expression and basic skills; Professional Class (ages 10-16): structured technical training in drawing, painting, and design, aligned with academic standards; G1/G2 Admission Preparation Classes: customized, intensive portfolio and academic support for students applying to post-secondary art and design programs; Adult Continuing Education (18+): enrichment courses for lifelong learners, delivered within a structured teaching framework.
Currently, in addition to our locations in Richmond and West Vancouver, we have expanded our operations to a new site in Vernon. To support our programs at this location, we are actively seeking a full-time Visual Art Instructor. The instructor will be responsible for independently designing, developing, and delivering structured Visual Arts courses across all levels, ensuring professional and systematic instruction for students in Vernon.

Duties and Responsibilities



Design, develop and deliver structured courses in oil painting, drawing, and related visual arts techniques, emphasizing composition, color theory, and painting techniques. Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and evaluation methods to ensure systematic instruction aligned with academic and career preparation. Teach students using lectures, demonstrations, workshops, seminars, and supervised studio practice. Introduce students to art appreciation and critical analysis, helping them understand art history, contemporary practices, and aesthetic principles. Provide individualized tutorial support for students preparing art portfolios for admission to university and college programs, ensuring alignment with academic requirements. Supervise group projects, independent study, and portfolio development, ensuring students meet defined learning outcomes. Advise students on course selection, program requirements, and pathways for higher education in visual arts. Meet regularly with parents to discuss students' academic planning, set educational goals, and provide timely updates on students' progress and challenges in visual arts courses. Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, and contribute to the continuous improvement of instructional resources. Optionally deliver continuing education workshops for adult learners, ensuring instruction follows structured curriculum and defined learning outcomes.

Skills & Qualifications



Minimum a bachelor's degree in visual arts or related field. Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience in visual arts secondary, post-secondary, or professional training level. Demonstrated ability to design curriculum and assessment tools for structured instruction. Proficiency in multiple artistic techniques (drawing, painting, sculpture, etc.) for teaching purpose. Ability to develop and innovate course content. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with commitment to student development. Knowledge of educational technology and online teaching methods is an asset.
