Intent of the process


This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic (profiles OR requirements) in same or other parts of the country.

Appointment in a developmental capacity may be considered if there are no qualified candidates available for appointment.

Education:
  • Graduation from post-secondary studies (minimum 2-year program) in marketing, tourism, recreation, leisure or museum studies, or other discipline relevant to the position or acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency
Experience:
  • Experience in the implementation, coordination and analysis of Visitor Experience programs, projects or operations
  • Experience in project coordination which includes procurement, contracting and time management
  • Experience in matching target market and audience needs to visitor experience opportunities;
  • Experience in collaborating with staff, partners and stakeholders in the context of visitor experience operations.

English essential Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of the relevant Indigenous land claim and protected area agreements and cooperative management principles and practices in the Western Arctic;
  • Knowledge of the principles, theories, practices, tools and techniques associated with the analysis and evaluation of visitor experience opportunities;
  • Knowledge of the techniques used to analyze and apply social science information and evaluate visitor experience opportunities.

Abilities:
  • Ability to analyse issues and opportunities and develop creative solutions;
  • Ability to work with multi-functional teams;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and cross-cultural settings involving a range of Indigenous groups, government and cooperative management bodies and other partners and stakeholders

Personal Suitability:
  • An effective leader who takes responsibility, makes things happen and exercises sound judgment.

Operational Requirements:
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
  • Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation;
  • Possession of a valid Driver\'s license OR personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid Driver\'s license within the limits of the Treasury Board Policy;
  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required.
