BrockTV, a division of the Brock University Students' Union (BUSU), is your student-funded and student-staffed online video channel dedicated to providing students with news, sports, entertainment, culture and arts programming. BrockTV provides staff and volunteers with professional, skill-building and leadership opportunities in a welcoming, creative atmosphere.

BTV was founded in 2005 by a group of film and communications students who were looking to gain hands-on audio and video production experience. With student funding (approximately $250,000/year) BTV now employs 12-19 students (per year) who produce year-round content for the Brock community and supports the Brock University Students' Union marketing and communication efforts. Overall BTV provides the student body with a variety of creative material through both innovative and informative content.

Job Function:



The Video Manager is an integral part of the BUSU Marketing and Communications team. They are an experienced and motivating leader, responsible for designing, developing and implementing strategic plans for the BrockTV division, as well as supporting the promotional efforts of BUSU.

This position is responsible for managing staff and overseeing the development of video programming that documents and enhances student life on campus. The Video Manager is also responsible for maintaining budgets, managing divisional assets and preserving a positive brand image.

In addition, supervision of all logistical and operational policies of the organization is a must. Ensuring that BrockTV consistently meets a professional level of broadcasting standards while providing an honest and objective representation of all students, faculty, and organizations, both within and outside of Brock University, at all times. An ideal candidate motivates and mentors both volunteers and staff, while leading the organization through developing its personalized culture.

Responsibilities:



Operations:



Oversee all operations, communications and logistics that coincide with the BrockTV mission statement: Content for students, by students.

Support the Director, Marketing and Events with creation of video and photography for use in BUSU's promotional materials.

Develop the brand of BrockTV by incubating innovative goals and strategies for sectors of the organization. This includes, but is not limited to programming, marketing, distribution methods, website features, revenue streams, staff and infrastructure.

Ensure that BrockTV is regularly releasing student-generated content that is appealing to and meeting the needs of BUSU's marketing department and the broader Brock community.

Assist each segment through development, pre-production, production and post-production, and troubleshoot any problems that arise in segment completion.

Review and reference prior seasons' material for future contextual understanding and staff training

Develop and implement a marketing strategy to promote BrockTV on campus.

Maintain relationships between Brock University Athletics and BrockTV.

Oversees the live streaming of a variety of Brock Sports including providing the expertise on the related live streaming equipment.

Build relationships with advertisers and partners for BrockTV.

Organizes and plans BrockTV's annual Render This event.

Staff Management:



Recruit and hire student staff for BrockTV annually.

Manage and provide performance evaluations for all BrockTV staff.

Implementation and development of a comprehensive training plan for all BTV staff and volunteers.

Performs payroll for all BTV staff.

Ensure BrockTV and all its staff adheres to all BUSU policies and procedures

Financial Management:



Manages, and is accountable for the BTV budget. Provides quarterly financial reports and updates to BUSU leadership. Performs all cheque requisitions and manages visa expenditures for BrockTV.

Qualifications:



Completion of post secondary education in a related field such as media, communications, production, marketing

3-5 years of operations management experience, managing staff and a budget.

Firm knowledge of video and streaming technologies

Experience with video production, composition, and equipment.

Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, and Final Cut Pro.

Applied knowledge of social and digital trends, practices, and communities

Advanced knowledge of web, media, and content management applications

Strong organizational and communication skill sets

Mixture of both creative abilities and professional conduct

Legally eligible to work in Canada

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $55,000.00-$62,500.00 per year
