Your role
Are you a creative visual storyteller with a wealth of community contacts, a drive for telling stories and an interest in a career in broadcast journalism?

Are you interested in a career researching and telling stories on CBC North's TV, Radio and online platforms?

Reporting to the Managing Editor and working with our multiplatform news team, you will cover the important stories of Rankin Inlet and the Kivalliq region for our television, radio, and web platforms. We're seeking someone with a connection to the diverse populations that make up the region and understands the importance of reflecting diverse and Indigenous communities in our storytelling.
This position is based in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. The successful candidate will work in a regional bureau with a small local team, and team members in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
An isolated location allowance and moving allowance, if applicable, are associated with this position.

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with the following:The ideal candidate will have a comfortable on-air presence and an ability to generate original story ideas with broadcast storytelling techniques. Strong computer skills and experience working with video equipment Strong writing skills. Knowledge of web writing, writing scripts for TV, radio or news would be a strong asset. Great attitude and interpersonal communication skills to engage with community members to conduct on camera interviews. Knowledge of working with video/camera equipment and editing software like Adobe or Avid would be an asset. Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, which may include unexpected overtime situations, weekends and evenings, often independently and without supervision. Knowledge of Nunavut, Rankin Inlet and the Kivalliq region would be an asset. Possessing skills in an Indigenous language would be an asset.
