Located in Calgary, Alberta, Mount Royal University is a student-first community supported by dedicated faculty and staff and offering exceptional teaching, personalized learning, and a strong foundation of general education. Founded in 1910, Mount Royal grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s, began offering baccalaureate degrees in 2007 and became a university in 2009.

In the 2023/24 academic year, 11,144 full-load equivalent students (almost 16,000 individual students) chose from 36 majors and 13 bachelor\'s degrees. Degrees are offered in arts, criminal justice, business administration, communication, computer information systems, education (elementary), health and physical education, nursing, social work and science, as well as specialized degrees in interior design, midwifery, and child studies. Mount Royal is also home to one of Canada\'s elite Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) accredited programs.

Mount Royal attracts students from within Calgary and the surrounding region and aspires to provide a flexible and collaborative learning experience provincially, nationally, and internationally. More than 100,000 Mount Royal alumni are contributing to their communities worldwide.

Mount Royal University is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to fill the role of Vice-President, University Advancement. Reporting directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor of Mount Royal University and serving as a member of the University\'s executive team, this individual will be key contributor in shaping and achieving the institution\'s advancement directions and priorities. With a focus on fostering growth and sustainability, the Vice-President will lead the University Advancement portfolio, overseeing a dedicated team of over 50 professionals distributed across fund development, marketing and communications, alumni relations, government relations and community engagement.

In this influential position, the Vice-President will drive Mount Royal University\'s advancement and fund development initiatives, collaborating closely with senior leaders to enhance the institution\'s reputation, engage with key stakeholders, and secure philanthropic support. The Vice-President will bring a proven track record in advancing fundraising efforts, strategic communications and alumni engagement. They will lead and inspire an engaged University Advancement team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence while aligning opportunities with the broader goals of the University.

The Vice-President is an authentic and visionary leader who is looking to make a lasting impact on Mount Royal University\'s future, contributing to its positioning as a leader in higher education. The Vice-President will bring a forward-thinking approach, leveraging industry trends and emerging technologies to drive the University Advancement portfolio forward. A commitment to the values and mission of the University, coupled with a collaborative mindset, will be crucial in ensuring the continued growth and success of the institution.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership and management experience of a significant development portfolio in a large, complex organization where external relationships and high-level community engagement is essential. Strong candidates will have the proven ability to translate organizational strategy into measurable goals, with experience at the local and national levels in major, individual, annual, capital, corporate, legacy and planned gift fundraising, programs and campaigns. Experience in stewardship, alumni relations, and marketing and communications is also required. Ideally, the successful candidate will have a graduate degree, and additional accreditation or credentials in the fundraising field will be considered an asset. Mount Royal University is located in the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) and the people of the Treaty 7 region in southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut\'ina and the Iyarhe Nakoda. We are situated on land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is "Mohkinstsis," which we now call the city of Calgary. The city of Calgary is also home to the M\xc3\xa9tis Nation.
