VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT






SUMMARY




Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation ("SNGRDC") is an Indigenous economic development corporation wholly owned by the Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation. SNGRDC invests in and manages assets located in Southern Ontario and holds a diverse portfolio of business interests in gaming & hospitality, construction, commercial property, technology, and a portfolio of utility scale renewable and energy related assets.


Reporting to the President/CEO the Vice President of Business Development will be responsible for deal origination and will oversee a business development pipeline focusing on two strategic pillars of growth: (1) Investments and (2) Partnerships.


The Vice President of Business Development will lead investment strategy and growth initiatives with a focus on real estate development, energy infrastructure, and cultivating long-term partnerships with public and private sector stakeholders. This executive role will prioritize sustainable economic development that aligns with the community's values, land stewardship principles, and long-term self-determination goals.


They will be responsible for ensuring sufficient metrics and modeling to enable evaluation and prioritization based on economic impact, net present value and risk tolerance. They will be expected to serve as a coach and mentor to Team Members and other cross functional work types. As a member of the company's Executive Leadership Team, the candidate will play an important role in developing and refining corporate strategy to ensure SNGRDC's vision and goals are connected to operational execution. They will always conduct themselves to the highest standard of business and protect the reputation of SNGRDC and the broader Six Nations Community.


The successful candidate will be energetic, entrepreneurial, and well respected in professional circles; they must have strong corporate references and ideally possess experience working for Six Nations of the Grand River or another large First Nation in Canada.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




Strategic Leadership & Planning:




Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the SNGRDC vision and values.

Identify, assess, and pursue high-impact investment opportunities in real estate, renewable and traditional energy infrastructure, and related sectors.

Lead feasibility assessments, risk analysis, and due diligence for potential investments and ventures.

Develop strategic plans to diversify revenue streams and build long-term economic resilience.

Develop and represent investment opportunities to the Project Approval Committee and Board of Directors upon request.

Investment & Deal Structuring:




Source, evaluate, and negotiate partnerships and investment opportunities.

Lead or oversee deal structuring including optionality for new joint ventures and investment agreements, with a specific focus on mitigating risk and protecting Six Nations rights and interests.

Work with legal and financial advisors to ensure sound investment decisions and contractual integrity.

Partnership Development:




Cultivate strategic relationships with industry leaders, government agencies, financial institutions, and Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners.

Represent SNGRDC at industry events, conferences, and investment meetings.

Advocate for Six Nations economic interests in regional and national development projects.

Operational Oversight & Team Leadership:




Direct, guide and manage a business development team and network of advisors. Provide regular reports to the CEO on business activities and financial outcomes.

Ensure all business ventures comply with legal, environmental, and community governance standards.

Develop investment pipeline and quarterly status reports for the Board of Directors.

Where appropriate serve as the key liaison with third parties, including financial advisors, government agencies, banks, brokers, legal and tax advisors, and consulting firms. Participate in Community Engagement activities to inform shareholders and Six Nations Community of the development activities being pursued.

Demonstrated professionalism and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality. Reliable and able to work independently.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES




Deep understanding of the Six Nations of the Grand River including its unique culture and governance - ideally with a lived experience Strong financial acumen, with the ability to evaluate complex investment opportunities. Excellent negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills. Familiarity with land use policy, energy regulations, and real estate development cycles.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Experienced at networking and making formal presentations at industry related events

Must be bondable and pass a police background check.

Flexible availability (extra hours may be required on occasion).

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE



Bachelor's degree and an MBA or CPA designation are required Minimum of 10 years of management experience in a corporate setting Minimum of 5 years of proven experience managing corporate risk and overseeing mitigation strategies Must be well versed and have experience navigating opportunities which stem from the legal duty to consult Indigenous communities Must have experience developing strategic plans for presentation to executive teams and/or a Board of Directors

Error in judgement may lead to loss of credibility, poor public relations, loss of public confidence and misinformation resulting in embarrassment and potential liability to the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation and the Six Nations Community.

WORK ENVIRONMENT




This position requires normal physical effort. This position requires normal visual/sensory effort. This position typically operates in a generally agreeable work environment.

Mental Stress: There is regular deadline pressure from various sources.
