Responsibilities

PRIMARY PURPOSE
Provides senior leadership and oversight to the development of short and long-term strategies for communications, marketing, public affairs and customer engagement programs across the enterprise. Involves broad accountability for TransLink's reputation, internal and external communications, issues management, media relations, marketing, ridership development, government and community relations, public engagement, and Indigenous relations. Delivers an integrated approach that aligns all areas of accountability to TransLink values and supports the organization's strategic goals.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Represents the department as a member of the TransLink Senior Executive Team and involved in translating the organization's goals into integrated cross-boundary strategies and business solutions and providing strategic advice to the CEO and Senior Executive on important enterprise-wide strategic policies and direction.
Leads the development and achievement of short and long-term strategies and objectives to protect and enhance TransLink's reputation. Ensures an integrated and aligned approach across all areas of accountability. Also ensures implementation of effective and efficient policies, practices and processes in all reporting areas; and approves and monitors targets & measures for the achievement of goals in all reporting areas.
Acts as senior champion of all strategic communication, marketing, public affairs and customer engagement programs. Involves collaborating with senior leaders across the enterprise to ensure that strategies and concepts are integrated into every aspect of the organization.
Provides senior leadership to the ongoing development and preservation of the TransLink corporate brand, ensuring integration in all areas of accountability, and delivery of a highly regarded reputation and positive image.
Provides senior leadership to the enterprise communication programs, including internal and external messaging through traditional, social and other electronic media; issue management; and media relations. Involves critical analysis and strategy to mitigate risk, manage reputation, and ensure consistency and alignment on high profile, sensitive, and time-constrained matters with potential impact on external confidence and support.
Provides senior leadership to the enterprise marketing and ridership development program, ensuring integration and alignment of strategies, plans and messaging with all communications and customer engagement programs.
Provide senior leadership to the enterprise public affairs program including strategic government relations and engagement, community and municipal relations, Indigenous relations, and public engagement on TransLink-related projects and policies.
Develops strategies and drives innovation through use of technology to expand the impact of social media beyond customer relationships to address critical objectives for public awareness and confidence.
Represents the TransLink enterprise in the development of positive and productive relationships with the media, customers, community, business, advocacy groups, the general public, student groups, traditionally under- represented groups and others.
Liaises with the CEO, TransLink and subsidiary Executive, and Board Committees for the purpose of advising, consulting and reporting on risks, risk mitigation measures, opportunities, strategic planning, and status of activities in all areas of accountability. Provides expert support on development of critical reports and presentations delivered by CEO, Board Chair and others appearing in front of strategically important audiences.
Provides broad direction, coaching, development and performance management for reporting leaders, and ensures adherence to appropriate practice in people management in reporting areas.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The requirements for this job are typically acquired through a degree in business, public policy, communications or related discipline, plus 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a large, complex customer driven environment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Expert knowledge of the theories, concepts, practices and methods of reputation management; internal and external communications, including staff, issue management, media, community and other communication programs; corporate marketing; public affairs; and customer experience programs
Expert skills in strategy development, and strategic planning and delivery pertaining to communications, marketing, public affairs, and customer engagement
Expert leadership skills with ability to direct, coach, develop and manage performance of reporting leaders, and to influence others at all levels across the TransLink enterprise, as well as externally.
Expert interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to provide contributions at the Executive and Board levels, and to address the highest level of sensitive, high-profile challenges, including issue and media management.
Expert analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with ability to diagnose and make recommendations on the organization's critical issues
Advanced level of business acumen to identify risks and leverage opportunities that can be addressed through communication, marketing, and customer engagement solutions
Alignment to TransLink's Executive Competencies.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Rate of Pay
---------------
The salary for this position ranges from $248,805 - $313,548 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.

We want to ensure our offer will align with your strengths considering experience, skills, and internal equity to offer a fair and equitable salary. The Total Compensation Package, which includes Extended Health, Dental, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan as well as other employment offerings will be discussed in detail as your application progresses.
