Veterinary Medical Director
to join and lead our medical team.
The Veterinary Medical Director is a key leadership position responsible for maintaining the highest standards of medical quality and overseeing the performance of the veterinary team. This role ensures excellence in patient care, oversees clinical protocols, and serves as a vital liaison between veterinary staff and administrative leadership.
Credit Valley Animal Hospital will lead the implementation of the Global Veterinary Bridge ("The Bridge") program within Ontario. This program was designed with the purpose of preparing internationally trained professionals, educated at non-AVMA accredited institutions, for the Clinical Proficiency Exam (CPE), before placement in a permanent home hospital.
A core focus of the position is the training and mentorship of veterinary professionals, including new graduates and internationally trained veterinarians. The Medical Director ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and works to align clinical practices with the broader strategic and business objectives of the organization.
In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Veterinary Medical Director also practices as a veterinarian, providing direct patient care, performing medical and surgical procedures, and contributing to the overall caseload of the hospital or clinic.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage our team of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine team to ensure the highest standards of care
Develop, implement, and maintain medical protocols and quality assurance initiatives
Provide mentorship and training to veterinarians, with a focus on new graduates and internationally trained professionals, in alignment with our established in-house training program
Ensure full compliance with veterinary regulations and standards
Collaborate with regional leader, practice leadership on business strategies and operational improvements
Serve as a resource for complex cases and support clinical decision-making
Maintain an active caseload as a practicing veterinarian
Qualifications
Active veterinary license in Ontario or eligible to apply
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience
Prior leadership, mentorship, or training experience strongly preferred
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Passion for mentorship, clinical excellence, and team development
Exceptional coaching, training and mentoring capabilities for individuals and teams-based practices
