Veterinary Assistant

About the Role:

Our Veterinary Assistants are key members of the team -- often the first and last faces our clients see. You'll be responsible for ensuring each patient and their owner receives compassionate, professional, and timely care.

Responsibilities Include:

Greeting clients and ensuring a positive experience Booking appointments, surgeries, and patient drop-offs Assisting with animal restraint during exams and procedures Processing lab samples and submitting requisitions to IDEXX Preparing for surgeries and assisting during procedures Dispensing medication under veterinarian instructions Charting vitals and monitoring patients during recovery Handling payments, insurance claims, and invoicing Maintaining accurate electronic medical records (paperless system) Answering phones and handling client communications Cleaning and sterilizing rooms, kennels, surgical instruments Preparing surgical packs and maintaining supply stock Supporting the team with administrative and reception duties

What We're Looking For:

Previous experience in a hospital or clinic is MANDATORY

Graduate of a veterinary assistant program (preferred) Experience with Ezyvet software is an asset Strong communication and organizational skills Compassionate, calm under pressure, and able to multitask Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

Scheduling Details:

Early Shifts begin between 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Evening shifts available (Reception closes at 9:30 p.m.) Weekday, evening, and weekend availability is required Hospital hours may adjust based on operational needs

Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
