Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for animal care and welfare, along with the skills necessary to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role requires a proactive individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and is committed to ensuring the health and safety of animals.

Duties



Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment is prepared and available. Provide excellent animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed. Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian. Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations and treatments. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas. Record patient histories and observations accurately in veterinary software systems. Assist with laboratory tasks such as taking samples for testing and performing basic diagnostic procedures. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' health and care instructions. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments and managing client inquiries when needed.

Skills


The successful candidate should possess the following skills:

Kennel experience or familiarity with animal husbandry practices. Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is preferred. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and critical care practices. Proficiency in medication administration and aseptic techniques. Experience with animal handling, including dog handling and equine experience is a plus. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently. Laboratory experience is beneficial for assisting with diagnostic testing. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.20-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
