Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with relevant experience in a veterinary setting. This role involves assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals, ensuring their comfort and safety while also supporting the clinic's operations.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of animals. Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments. Administer medications as directed by veterinarians or technicians, following proper protocols. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas. Provide basic animal husbandry, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals as needed. Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinary team. Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with team members and clients. Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection and processing. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments and managing client communications when necessary. Uphold aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred. Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and critical care practices is highly desirable. Familiarity with veterinary terminology and laboratory procedures is advantageous. Experience with animal catheterization, medication administration, and animal restraint techniques is a plus. Strong skills in dog handling and general pet care are essential. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members. A background in equine experience or veterinary technician training is beneficial but not required.
