Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, providing essential support to veterinarians and ensuring the well-being of our patients. This role involves a combination of hands-on animal care, administrative duties, and collaboration with veterinary staff to deliver high-quality medical services.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians in examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures. Provide proper animal restraint during examinations and procedures. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including exam rooms and kennels. Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care. Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection and processing. Provide excellent customer service at the front desk, including scheduling appointments and managing client inquiries. Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures. Handle various species, including dogs, cats, and equines as needed.

Experience

Candidates should possess a background that includes:

Kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience is preferred. Familiarity with animal husbandry practices. Prior veterinary technician or critical care experience is advantageous. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques. Experience in animal handling and catheterization is a plus. Laboratory experience related to veterinary medicine is beneficial. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
