Our Terra Nova team is looking for an experienced Vessel Control Operator to join our offshore team!

Minimum Requirements:

  • Canadian Officer of the Watch Certificate
  • Two or more years of tanker experience and exposure to the offshore oil and gas environment
  • Experience in dynamic positioning systems and Canadian East Coast ice management procedures
  • Diploma or Degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent technical/ operational experience
  • Restricted Radio Telephone certificate with Global Maritime Distress and Safety System
  • Oil Tanker level 2 endorsement
  • Marine Emergency Duties (MED)
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and control various FPSO systems
  • Operate the thruster assisted positioning mooring system and ensure stability criteria is met using NAPA software
  • Conduct cargo calculations, ensuring required data is documented
  • Responsible for cargo and ballast operations, along with distribution and control of inert gas to cargo and ballast tanks
  • Perform crude oil washing operations
  • Oversee shuttle tanker operators during cargo transfers
  • Observe collision avoidance procedures (i.e. radar monitoring) and maintain awareness and control of field traffic movements
  • Operate control center room telecommunications with standby vessels, shuttle tankers, vessel operators, crane operators, and maintenance crews
Location and other Key Details:
  • This position has been identified as safety sensitive
  • The shift schedule is a 21 days on/ 21days off rotation
  • You will work 12-hour shifts in a harsh offshore environment on a moving facility
  • Prior to offshore travel, you will satisfy and maintain mandatory industry training standards
  • Qualified residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be given first consideration in the staffing of this position
  • Pay rate in accordance with Appendix A of the Collective Agreement between Terra Nova Employers\xe2\x80\x99 Organization and Unifor Local 2121
