The TTC has one (1) year temporary opportunity within our Procurement and Category Management Department for a Category Manager in the Vehicles category. The incumbent will be required to plan and oversee pre-award procurement activities, including tendering and purchasing, providing supervision to staff, representing the department on special projects, and supporting the Director with workforce planning, budgeting, and performance analysis.
Key Job Functions
In this role as Category Manager, you will be required to plan, coordinate, and provide oversight of procurement activities for the Vehicles category.
Your role will include liaising with user departments to review requirements, ensuring compliance to procurement policy and ensuring goods and services are made available when required. May be required to visit outside vendor/contractor user locations.
You will review, assess, approve client's scope of work/specifications and requirements (e.g., budget/project approval, estimate, schedule, technical details), Commercial Analysis, Purchase Authorizations, Sole Source Requests.
As the selected incumbent, you will provide advice, guidance and direction to staff on specific commercial, legal or technical issues, and difficult /complex negotiations for contract awards.
As the Category Manager, you will maintain, develop and prepare specific/unique contract documents for the procurement of more complex goods and services, standard letters, forms and procurement tender/proposal documents.

Your role will include developing short and long terms plans relating to methods, procedures, administration and staffing to enhance effectiveness of procurement process while developing alternate sources of supply for goods and services, particularly for single source items to increase competition and reduce costs of goods/service purchased.
You will be responsible for gathering competitive data on various types of materials, equipment, services etc., from vendors or sales representatives.
Beyond procurement, you will champion a respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free workplace that values diversity and accessibility. In addition, you will lead the development and implementation of policies, programs, and services that reflect TTC's commitments under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), related orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC policies, ensuring equitable experiences for both employees and customers.
